First time I heard the name of this couse I really dont know what about this course but I took this subject because of my friend. Then I would like to say ___THANK YOU VERY MUCH___ to A. Cicil that make me know more about American Culture in this time of my life because if I did not take this course, I would not know about all good thing about the culture of American absolutely.

The long walk home

The long walk home was the most sad movie that I have seen in this Aspect of American Culture class because when I watched it, I felt unhappy to see that the fair did not happened in this movie because of she was a black people and I also felt pity to them very much.

The obvious scence shown the unfairness in black people was the scence about blacks boycotted public transport becuase they were forced to sit at the back. Odessa works as a maid for the Thompsons, and as well as she is treated, she feels it is her duty to walk to work, even if it means she is exhaused, and gets to work late. So, it can show that black people did not get fair from white American by acting with black person like that because I think that human should be get the same right to being alive in this world and at that time should have the rule for protecting the balck people.

Meet me at St. Louis

This movie told me in many things that I did not know before and something different from this present time. First of all, it was about the telephone it means that the charactristic of telephone look different and I think it might be difficult to use it but in the movie shown me as very easy to use it. When they used, they would be use the loud and louder sound so everyone in the house would be hear everything they said.

Next, it was about the dinner, everyone in the home had to wear full uniform to have a dinner although it happened in the home o I think that it's ver surprise to see that on the movie. Moreover, I have just known about the Halloween time in that period that it look like My Sonk-Garn Festival in Thailand because children would put the powder into the other face so it's not scaryas same as the Halloween in this time.

Another thing that I have found in the movie was the Christmas time that it was the day of family for real since this period until now. Everyone in the family will help with each other to create the snow man and spend time to stay together within the house so it would full of happiness and warmess. I think it is the best describe to American culture in the movie.

Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius

When I watched this movie, I found that Jones can be the best character to tell to the audience about the patient. It means he never give up with himself to reach their goal or destination although he had to face to face with the healthy problem or sometimes he got the pressure from other competitor in the golf tournament.

Moreover, the other main thing that can bring him to the big sucessful was his girlfriend because she always gave a huge encorage to him at any time he had the tournament. However, the movie did not show only the golf scence but shown the romantic scence as well, it means Jones gave a softly kiss to his girlfriend under the umbella during the rain. So, this scence I was very impressive and I could feel depth about that feeling very well.

Othe things, I suggest to all of my friends that if you have the problem and you think that you can not pass them for sure, I would like you to watch this movie because I believe that the movie will help you become better stregth on yourself and inspire you to fight with the problem.

BLUES SONG

I love to listen the Blues song because when I listened to, I can follow the feeling inside the song.

Blues style means a song or instrumental piece of music in the style of a type of popular music that developed from African-American folk songs in the early 20th century, consisting mainly of slow sad songs often performed over a repeating harmonic pattern.

Its origins are based in Africa, and it arrived on American shores during the slave trade. The song structure is simple--much of classic blues is based around a three-chord, 12-bar progression.

Blues style remains a music that reflects hardship, trouble, and strife, but also perseverance and strength of character--to know the blues is to be in touch with your true spirit and soul.

They were expendable

For this movie, some information i may get misunderstanding because i think the story runs very fast. However, i also saw the nice scenr that the director did it for the audience. I think that American culture of this movie is about the characteristic as well as the style of dressing. For thae scenr that i love the most it is the scene of Sandy that take the troussers out from Rusty on the bed with aggressive.

"THEY WERE EXPENDABLE" is a story of defeat. Defeat of the Americans by the Japanese in the early days of World War ll and the disintegration of Motor Torpedo Squadron Three.

The movie begin with the expression of the capabilities of PT boats in Manila Bay on the day that Pearl Harbor is bombed. Ryan becomes shock when his superiors say no to see them as practical naval craft and is in the process of writing his call for a transfer when the war breaks out.

American get a chance to shoot down Japanese planes and are assigned as message carriers between Bataan and Corregidor.Then, both two side have face to face with each other to make a war continually and there are many criusers died. During the time of war, Rusty or Ryan fall in love with nurse named is Sandy that he met her from his hurt at his arm.

After the squadron's last PT boat is machine gunned by a Japanese aircraft and explodes after it is beached, the crew heads go to the bar and ,sits down as well as orders drinks . That's all.

Charles Edward Coughlin

He was a Canadian-born Roman Catholic priest who became a political organizer in the United States and, during the 1930s, a radical right-wing radio personality.

Charles Edward Coughlin was born on October 25, 1891, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and received his education in Catholic schools and at St. Michael's College of the University of Toronto. At the age of 20, he began studies for the priesthood, receiving his ordination in 1916.

In 1926, Coughlin started a weekly broadcast over the local radio station which proved so popular that, within four years, the Columbia Broadcasting System began carrying it nationally.

In 1931, the network, worried by Coughlin's attacks on the Hoover administration and by other contentious material in his addresses, discontinued his weekly broadcasts. With contributions from his listeners, Coughlin organized his own radio network, which grew to 26 stations.

During the 1932 presidential campaign, Coughlin strongly championed Franklin D. Roosevelt, proclaiming that America's choice was "Roosevelt or ruin." Roosevelt carefully cultivated Coughlin and benefited substantially from his support in the first year of the New Deal, but he always kept the priest at arm's length. When Roosevelt refused to fully accept Coughlin's schemes, the priest became a loud critic of the administration.

In 1934, Coughlin formed the National Union for Social Justice to combat communism and to fight for currency inflation and government control of big business. In 1936 Coughlin, determined to stop Roosevelt's re-election, made the National Union the nucleus for the Union party, which also amalgamated much of the followings of the late Huey Long and of Francis E. Townsend, a crusader for old-age pensions.

After 1936, Coughlin's influence declined rapidly. He organized the Christian Front to succeed the National Union and trained his oratorical guns on Roosevelt's foreign policy, which he believed would inevitably involve the country in another war.

In 1940, the larger stations in Coughlin's radio network, acting on the basis of a recent National Association of Broadcasters ruling barring "controversial" speakers, refused to renew his broadcasting contract.

With his newsletter banned, his radio network gone, and his bishop silencing him, Coughlin confined his activities to those of an ordinary parish priest, in 1942. He retired from his pastorate at the Shrine of the Little Flower in 1966. He concerned himself with his newly-built home in Birmingham, Michigan, and still wrote pamphlets denouncing Communism.

Coughlin died on October 27, 1979 at his home in suburban Detroit.

CITY HEAT

The movie begins with a rainy night in a popular diner. Speer who is a policeman comes in to have a coffee and Murphy who is detective comes on there as well but Murphy has fighting with 2 men and he also asked help from Speer. Then, he thanks to him that can save his life.
Both Speer and Murphy have eyes for Murphy's beautiful secretary Addy and she feel good with both. After that, Murphy finds a new romance girl who named Caroline but he found that he can not commit with her because of his attraction to Addy before.Next, Speer and Addy go to a boxing match of Pitt and Murphy's partner who is Swift, he is also there. Then, Swift is in possession of a briefcase whose contents are the secret of Pitt's gang after that Swift died. As a result make Murphy want to revenge on Pitt and Murphy also asked Speer to be his assistance to get rid of Pitt and his gangs that always take over the city. So, Speer agrees with him.

For this movie, I feel that the plot story is quite good as action movie but some character play as comedy movie. So, it is interesting to watch but actually, I love the style of movie like A River runs through it more that this movie because I don’t like action movie so, I may be tell the summary not well.

For the American culture that I have found, there are some characteristic that look like cruelty and always use gun to fighting.

A river runs through it

This movie is the real story that the director bring to tell anyone. The movie tells the story about two boys since they were young until they got old.

The story is about two boys that they have a strictly father who has duty in the Church. The father is a person who has a rule to control yourself and his sons with seriously. First of all, Father always teach his sons to fishing at the main river of their town since they were young and also make them love to fishing as it was their life. Boys always stay together and they love with each other very much. After that boys grow up in every day and they get separate from each other because of their work. Norman has to go to another town for high education and Paul stay at the hometown to college. One day, when they graduated, they have the work in different way. Norman was a professor and Paul was a newspaperman. However, both Paul and Norman were busy but they still have a time to fishing together at the same river. Next, Norman fell in love with some girls at the party and he try to get closer with her. He would like to get her as a girlfriend so he attempts to do anything for reach her heart and then he can do it.

On the other hand, Paul was a popular man in his hometown and his parents seem to love Paul more than Norman. Paul looks like a playboy and he always go to the Lolo that have bad girls as well as gamble in there. Next, Norman got a call from Police station to obtain the bad news about his brother that he died. Then, Norman goes back to home and tell the parents about this bad news. Mother can not accept the news and Father asked to Norman about the cause of Paul’s death. Norman tells him that he fell from the alley and got the hurt at his right hand but Father did not believe that he died only this cause. Norman knows that Father want to know more about this but Norman can not tell because he know only this cause as well.

The movie end up with the face of the real person of this story who is Norman at that he is fishing and also thinks of his brother at the same river. Finally, river is all memories between Norman and Paul when they have their life together.

For the American culture that I have found in this movie, there are the characteristic and behavior of the Father that he has the own rule to control his sons to be a good and excellent persons. Another one are the things that have different in the present time such as telephone, car, and dress.

For this movie, I think the story is very classic movie and it can make me feel impressive as well as happy to watch it because the telling of the movie is very beautiful and all the scenes is very attractive. So, I love this movie so much.

A Christmas without Snow

For this movie,i confess that i may not clearly understand about this story because it has no subtitle of any language but i will try to blog the movie as much as i can.Anyway, i am very sorry for that.Thank you.

The movie is about people both men and women that come from the several place and they are willing to sing a song for the Messiah. They have to train singing very hardly because they have a leadership who is the strictly old man about the song control them all the time. So, they have a little bit more serious about their singing because the during time of training they always get the complaint from the leadership.Moreover,they have many problems of each person and they can learn a little something about the personal lives of several members in the group.One day, the leadership set the small contest to find the only main singing person. Miss Kim is a chosen person that have a pretty as well as bright sound and everyone in the room agree with this decision of leadership.On the other hand, Ms. Bean is also the person who take a contest and she has very high confident from her sound because she think that her sound is very nice and perfect but finally,she did not get this position. As a result of this, it make she got upset to everyone by doing the bad behavior and also quit from the group singing on the next day. Afetr that, everyone have frequently trained and try not to make a mistake. Lastly, the day that they have to sing a song in the Church is comimg and they can sing the song with the perfect sound to all people Then, everyone the Church give a big appluse to them loudly.

CAT BALLOU

Cat Ballou is a comedy-western film in 1965 which tells the story of a woman who hires a famous gunman to avenge her father's murder, but finds that the man she hires isn't what she expected.

The movie begin with one white skin and black skin person to tell the story by using song, so this make the movie can understand the story easily.

Cat Ballou is a proper instructor that she is returning to her hometown of Wolf City, Wyoming, after getting Eastern education. On the train ride, Cat meets up with a pair of friendly, attractive crooks, Clay Boone and his uncle name Jed, the former becoming hopelessly hit with the inexperienced but unsafe to Cat. When Cat arrives at home, Cat discovers that her father, Frankie, is being threatened with bodily harm by a development company that badly wants his land. After that her father is murdered by cruel, nose less killer Tim Strawn. Cat straps on a pair of six-shooters and persuades Clay, Jed, and her father's loyal Native American hand Jackson Two-Bears to sign on as her group. In her mission for revenge, Cat also recruits Kid Shelleen, a one-time very bad gunslinger who is now really love alcohol. Cat Ballou is distributed the whole time to revenge for her father as many ways. The movie shows many bad behaviors that Cat and her friend such as steal salary on the train and makes some employee have no work. Finally, she has to hang from result but her friend can help her by their plan.

The Missing

The story is about one family which has woman who name Meggie as doctor with Christian. She has two daughters. In fact, she has father but she always say to anyone that he died because she can not accept some bad behavior and Indian style of him. One day he back to see her for maintaining his hurt on the body and they have to face to face with each other. Both of them feel unhappy and also make stranger.

Then, Brave who is a special friend with Meggie and her daughters go to outside and they promise with Meggie that they will be right back before sunset. But the time of sunset, they are not at home and she saw a horse of her daughter so Meggie feel down and she start to go to find all of them.

After that she is on distance and she saw the body without alive of Brave, she scream and she saw Dot who is the last daughter so she is very please as well as asking for another one of daughter who is Lilly. Dot answer that Indian people hurt Brave and take Lilly go with them.

Later on, Meggie Dot and her father have cooperated to discover Lilly who get kidnap by Indian people. Everything does not easy because due time to obtain their destination they met many bias and also make a fighting among with opposite side but they do not give up.

Lilly live with other girls about eight to ten but Lilly does not just stay at the bad place. She tries to find the way out for many times but she can not go because there are many staffs to look after them. Next, they have to go with the American people who buy girls and give very high dollar to Indian. So, Meggie and her father get a good chance to attack them and take girls back.

Girls can be escape from American people and they take a rest at some place but the head of Indian and staff do not stop, they want to get them back so the fighting happened again. This time is the last because the head of Indian died because her father and he fall away from the mountainside and everyting become calm with seriously and contentment feeling at the same time of the Meggie’s family.

The movie make me feel enjoy watching because i have never seen the Indian movie before and it make me know more some culture of Indian such as they believe in magic,and always use violence in fighting.

The Red Badge Of Courage

The movie is about the civil war between the North and the South of America.

There are many army in this situation but the movie focus on one armythat they are in the North. It is the army that full of soldier who are worry as well as scare about the war and some want to fight and see the real war because this army always train and they never see and face to face with the war.One day,some soldier heard the news that they will have the war with the opposite soon from another. So,he bring this news to tell other and some do believe but some do not believe. During they discuss about this news, Henry who is the strange thinker person,he walk out the group discussion and he seem to be serius about this news.

Next,the war has happened in several time within a few day and Henry did not help their friend due to the war at a time because he scared and he has less brave with himself so he decide to escape.His friend thought that Henry dead but when Henry back to the army, everyone feel happy that he did not die. For the last war in this movie, Henry back and make a fighting bravely and patient with friend then he will get the high position in the army but he look unhappy with the good news because he feel embarass with himself and their friend so he confess the real thing that he did not help the army during the previous war with his close friend.

After that the result of this civil war, the winner is the North and Henry's army back with happiness, strength and unity that happened during the hard time of their life.

For this movie, i like it because the movie does not only make me excited and also make me feel a little sad with some characteristic of actor.Moreover, I think the ranking of story is quite good, it does not boring and the black-white scene fit for the movie.

According to my watching, American culture in this movie is unity and always give encourage to each other but there are still have some soldier that selfish within their own army. Moreovert his movie has something that different from the present time,there are guns and the uniform.

Jeremiah Johnson

Jeremiah Johnson is a man with mydterious past who decide to 'go bush' and he has live in the American Rockies,trapping beavers and hunting to survive. The movie opens with a musical overture set against shot of the Rocky mountains.

Jeremiah Johnson stay at Rockies and he can not do well for first survive on there. He encounter Bear Claw who has been living off the mountain for long time. After that, Jeremiah Johnson stirkes out on his own and soon encounters a crazy woman whose husband and daughter are killed by indians. And she request him to look after her son,who has been mute ever since he witnessed the killing. Next,Jeremiah Johnson come across another crazy man who has no hair in the head and buries in the sand up to his neck. Both Jeremiah Johnson and crazy man kill some indians. Next, they encounter some indian who are fundementally peace-loving indian then Jeremiah Johnson get the chieft's sisiter as awife. One day, some settlers come along and ask for Jeremiah Johnson help in locating a stranded wagon train. Jeremiah Johnson unwillingly leads the settlers through a Crow burial ground and then he go back home to find his wife and son dead. They were killed by Crow Indians in revenge for his bad place. Jeremiah Johnson kills several Crows in retaliation, and continues to kill the Crow warrior sent to kill him.

Finally,Jeremiah Johnson return to the crazy woman's home that she has long been killed by indian and he also sees a monument to himself. Moreover, he sees the Crow chief,and lastly it appears,peace is happened.

In the movie, it began with the secret meeting of girls at the forest.Later,there is only one girl that she can not breath and always sleep at a time so her father got doubt about this siutation that he try to put it together with the night where girls made a secret meetnig.So,he called many doctors to come and see his daughter but they could not find the real problem that make her become sick. But one doctor believed that her syntom come from the dark spirit that it stay around us at the salem.Then,he try to solve the problem continually and he has doubt with the proctor's family that they might know more detail about this situation but he got refuse from them that they did not believe in the dark spirit. Moreover, no one could find the real problem so the salem invite the court to judgement all people that they had concern about this by hang. Proctor's wife was on the black list for hanging too so Mr.Proctor did not want her died because he thought that she did not know about this. Finally, Mr.Proctor confess that he did it and he got hang but actually,he did not.Finally, the fault girl that she could contact with the dark spirit go away from this salem together with the amount of money.
